Italy

 In 2020 the collective plans of the world came to a halt with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. These plans included the plans for my first trip to Italy. While this delay was certainly sad, it gave us time to refine what we wanted to see. Most importantly, it gave us time to think about the speed at which we would visit. It doesn’t take years of travel and nature photography to realize that traveling slowly and learning about a place is far superior to showing up to see the major sites in a day. I don’t think it is possible to tell a story about a place when you have only spent a few hours there. While it wasn’t intended to be a tour of some of Italy’s many UNESCO World Heritage sights, that is the way it worked out. From the cobbled streets of the Eternal City to the colorful cliffside villages of Cinque Terre, and all the best Tuscany has to offer, I know that Italy will continually call me back. There is just so much more to see.
